Adroit started from very humble beginnings in November 2023, when Paul J H Smith began creating and selling a small number of hand-painted pieces at Hyde Outdoor Market 6 of them to be exact.
What started as a small creative side project while working as a chef quickly grew into something much bigger. From those first six hand-painted pieces, Adroit Creations developed into a wider creative business offering personalised clothing, workwear, gifts, artwork and unique handmade products. After operating from a Small square kiosk at Clarendon Square Mall, Expanding it into one massive Kiosk it was time to move Adroit creations into its own shop at 9-11 Market Avenue in Ashton-under-Lyne in February 2026.
Today, Adroit Creations stands proud and is continuing to grow as a small business aiming big. We work with individuals, families, businesses, schools, teams, organisations and community groups, creating everything from personalised T-shirts and hoodies to workwear, gifts, artwork and our own original products and characters. In 2026, Adroit was proud to receive the New Business Winner Award, recognising how far the business has come since those first few products at the market.
At the heart of Adroit is a simple belief: “We don't sell clothing, art or personalised gifts — we build relationships.”
We want Adroit to be a place where people can come in with an idea, however big or small, and work with us to bring it to life. We’re particularly excited about becoming part of Our Pass because we want to connect with young people across Greater Manchester, introduce them to a local independent business and show that creative ideas can genuinely become something bigger.
